Four people accused of murdering a newborn baby girl in Sheffield have appeared in court after the infant was found dead in an outhouse in the Wincobank area.

Andrea Skopova, 20, Peter Horvath Jnr, 19, Peter Horvath Snr, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of the baby, known in court as Baby S.

Prosecutors told the court that the newborn had suffered 33 wounds from 15 separate stabbings. Her body was discovered at an address in Wincobank on Sunday.

The four defendants were also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice by allegedly cleaning the scene of the suspected crime.

All four adults were remanded in custody and were due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court. A 15-year-old girl also appeared separately in court, charged with the same perverting the course of justice offence. She cannot legally be named because of her age.

The case remains an active criminal investigation, and the allegations against the defendants have not been proven in court.
