Bangladeshi Man Liton Ahmed Remains Jailed Over Children Sexual Abuse Crimes

Liton Ahmed, a British Bangladeshi man originally from Sylhet who resided in Cardiff, has completed his first full year behind bars as he continues serving an 18-year custodial sentence for serious sexual offences against young girls. The 47-year-old offender, previously based in the Butetown district of the Welsh capital, was sentenced at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court in late August 2025 following an extensive child protection investigation conducted by South Wales Police. Ahmed has remained continuously detained within the HM Prison Service estate since the judicial bench handed down the lengthy term.

The custodial sentence followed a contested criminal trial at Cardiff Crown Court in April 2025, during which prosecutors detailed a sustained series of predatory offences committed against vulnerable minors.
