The family of seven-year-old Valentina Foster have said their lives have been changed forever following the devastating house fire that claimed the lives of the young girl and her aunt, Natalie McDonald, in Grangetown near Middlesbrough.
Valentina died alongside 34-year-old Natalie McDonald in the blaze during the early hours of 26 August. A 23-year-old man has since appeared in court charged with two counts of murder and several grievous bodily harm offences connected to the incident.
In an emotional tribute, Valentina’s parents said their daughter would remain forever in their hearts as they struggled to come to terms with her death.
“She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words by her family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched,” the family said.
“Our lives have changed forever, and we are struggling to come to terms with this devastating loss.”
They added that Valentina would be “forever missed” by her brothers and sisters, while her memory would continue to live on with those closest to her.
The deaths of Valentina and her aunt have left two generations of the same family grieving after the fire in Grangetown, an area close to Middlesbrough in Teesside.

Valentina’s family described the seven-year-old as a child whose life had touched those around her, saying she would always hold a place in the hearts of her loved ones.
The tribute also underlined the profound impact of her death on her siblings and wider family as they attempt to process the loss of a young girl and a close relative in the same tragedy.
Natalie McDonald’s mother, Lisa Kirton, previously described her daughter as “lovely, bright and bubbly”, adding that “everybody loved her”.
The tributes have painted a picture of two much-loved family members whose deaths have caused deep sorrow among relatives and those who knew them.
Jaden Wright, 23, appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with the murders of Natalie McDonald and Valentina Foster.
He also faces multiple grievous bodily harm charges in connection with the fire.
Court proceedings mark a significant stage in the criminal investigation, although the case remains subject to the normal legal process. The charges have been brought as detectives continue examining the events surrounding the fire and its consequences.
A 31-year-old man who had also been arrested on suspicion of murder was later released with no further action, Cleveland Police confirmed.
The investigation has involved emergency services, specialist officers and detectives seeking to establish a full account of what happened during the early hours of 26 August.
Cleveland Police said a man and a woman remained in hospital following the incident.
Two teenage girls who were also affected by the fire were treated and later discharged from hospital.
The extent of the incident has added to the shock felt by the local community, with the deaths of a seven-year-old child and a 34-year-old woman at the centre of the continuing investigation.

In the initial stages of the investigation, police said they could not immediately rule out a possible connection between the Grangetown fire and organised crime linked to seven deaths, including the deaths of two police officers, in a crash on the A66.
However, Cleveland Police later said the cases were not connected.
That clarification removed an early line of inquiry and allowed the investigation into the Grangetown fire to continue on its own evidence.
For Valentina Foster’s family, however, the legal investigation runs alongside an intensely personal loss.
Their tribute made clear that the family’s immediate reality is the absence of a daughter, sister, niece and much-loved child whose life ended far too soon.
As the case progresses through the courts, the family says Valentina’s memory will remain with them forever.
