Construction of the world's largest airport terminal has begun in the Middle Eastern Gulf country of the United Arab Emirates. This terminal is being constructed at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Emir of Dubai and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, said this in a post on social media X on Sunday.
The Emir of Dubai said, "Today we have approved the design of the passenger terminal of Al Maktoum Airport. The airport is being built at a cost of 1.28 billion dirhams (Tk. 3.829 billion in Bangladeshi currency) as part of Dubai Aviation Corporation's strategy.
Currently, Dubai International Airport is one of the largest airports in the world, But the terminal under construction will be five times the size of Dubai Airport.
Al Maktoum International Airport will be able to serve 1.5 million passengers per year in the first phase after the terminal's construction and operations begin. This capacity will be increased to 26 crores in the next 10 years. Officials associated with the project said that when fully operational, Al Maktoum Airport will be able to take off and land 400 aircraft at the same time. Al Maktoum Airport will have five runways to ensure smooth flight operations. Advanced aviation technologies will be followed to manage terminal and airport operations.
