Bangladesh Cricket Board has handed punishments to five cricketers over allegations of involvement in match-fixing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The decision was confirmed during a press conference by Tamim Iqbal, who currently serves as the board president.
Tamim said he was not part of the board when the fixing incidents took place or during the initial investigation. However, after taking charge, he reviewed the matter and questioned whether there was enough evidence against the players.
“I asked whether we had sufficient evidence. I received the answer, and then I said, ‘Execute it,’” Tamim told reporters during the press briefing in Bangladesh.
Further details about the punishments and the identities of the players are expected to be announced soon.

In addition, under the “BCB Excluded Person Policy,” the Bangladesh Cricket Board has issued an exclusion order against Saminur Rahman. The decision followed an investigation into alleged corrupt activities linked to multiple editions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), including the 9th, 10th, and 11th seasons.
The investigation found allegations against him involving betting-related activities, offering corrupt approaches to players and agents, maintaining connections with domestic and international betting and corruption syndicates, and facilitating corrupt activities in cricket matches.
Before the exclusion order was issued, Saminur Rahman waived his right to respond under the policy after receiving notice and accepted the sanction.
